The ingredients needed to make Dal Curry:
  1. Make ready 1 cup Tur Dal
  2. Make ready 4 cups Water
  3. Make ready 1/2 Onion (Chopped)
  4. Make ready 2 Tomatoes (Chopped)
  5. Make ready 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  6. Make ready 1 tbsp Kitchen Grocery Dal Masala
  7. Get 1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder

  10. Prepare 3 tbsp Cooking Oil
  11. Take 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  12. Prepare 1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds
  13. Make ready 1/4 tsp Fennel Seeds
  14. Get 5-6 Peppercorns
  15. Take pinch Asafoetida
  16. Get 3 Whole Bedgi Chillies
  17. Make ready 4-5 Green Chillies
  18. Get as needed Curry Leaves

Steps to make Dal Curry:
  1. Wash the dal nicely till the water runs clear. Add water to it and steam it in a rice cooker or steamer for 20-30 minutes. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan. When hot, add whole red chillies, green chillies and curry leaves. Saute for few seconds. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add some more oil. When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle. Add cumin seeds, fennel seeds, peppercorns and asafoetida. Add onions and saute till the onions are translucent.
  4. Add the tomatoes and salt and cover and cook till the tomatoes are soft and mushy. Mash it with a potato or vegetable masher. Add turmeric powder, dal masala and red chilli powder and saute for a minute. Add the cooked dal and let it come to a boil.
  5. Add the chilli tadka, green chillies and lemon juice and mix well.
  6. Serve the dal curry with rice, roti etc.
  7. Note: Kitchen Grocery Dal Masala contains red chilli, coriander, turmeric, black pepper, cumin, cloves, tej, black cardamom, green cardamom, nutmeg, shahi jeera, rock salt and asafoetida.
  8. You can garnish it with coriander leaves.
